What should I bring?

We recommend you bring your own natural mosquito repellent, sunscreen and a hat. For any special products or requests, please inform us in advance as Tulum is a little village and it might take some time to find special brands or items. Therefore we recommend traveling with specialty products such as personal medication or any items you only find in your home country.

 

What activities can I do at the villa or nearby?

Please do not hesitate to ask for our information package prior to arrival or browse our website for special in-villa or outdoor activity suggestions.

Please note that all activities and wellness treatments are custom-ordered and we recommend booking prior to arrival to best accommodate your preferred date and time.

If you do not want to book an activity prior to arrival you can always ask the Villa Concierge to arrange it with a 24 to 48 hour notice.

 

Is it possible to add additional guests after a confirmed booking?

If there is sufficient room it is usually possible.

Please discuss any changes to your confirmed booking with the Reservations Team at reservations@nalum.com. They will be able to inform you of any limitation or additional costs.

 

I am vegan and have special dietary requirements, is this an issue?

Our Hospitality Team will compile your personalized menu based on your food preferences, taking into account any special needs or allergies that you mention to us prior to arrival. 

 

Is it easy to get taxis to and from the villa?

Your Villa Concierge will happily arrange a taxi or a private driver to pick you up from your villa. From Tulum town and the hotel zone it is very easy to get a taxi to the villa.

Please kindly book at least 3 hours before the pick up hour to avoid waiting.

 

Is it possible to ask for a late check out?

Provided there are no guests arriving on the day of your departure, you might be granted an extension.

Is it easy to get cash in the area?

The nearest ATM is located between 10 to 30 minutes from the villa.

We also recommend notifying your bank before traveling to Mexico to avoid any issues with card security when withdrawing money or trying to process a payment.

 

Can I pay my extras by credit card?

Yes, Extras can be paid with credit card through PayPal (+5% additional charge), otherwise they can be paid by cash or with wire transfer.

 

How much should I tip?

Tipping is optional but quite customary in Mexico. The amount you tip is at your discretion and normally based on the quality of service you receive. As a tipping guideline for our villa staff we usually recommend a range of $50 -$100 USD per guest for the entire length of your stay. For example, a party of 5 guests could leave between $250 USD - $500 USD.

 

Is it better to travel with USD or Mexican pesos?

You can pay with both currencies (USD exchange rate varies). We recommend keeping some pesos handy for possible tips and small purchases.

 

Is there phone coverage and Wi-Fi at the villa?

There is a stable Wi-Fi connection at the villa, however the phone signal coverage can be weak at times. We recommend downloading some apps like WhatsApp on your device as an easy way to communicate via internet.

 

How far away is the villa from town or any grocery store?

The villas are approximately 30 to 50 minutes away (depending on the road condition) from grocery stores in Tulum town. However, we do all the grocery shopping for you. If you have any special requests, just ask the Villa Manager.

 

What about the road conditions within the biosphere?

Some of the properties are located within a natural reserve, accessible only by unpaved road.

The road condition changes depending on the climate and the rainfall. Therefore as a rule of thumb, should you consider renting a car during your villa stay, we always recommend a 4x4 Jeep or similar vehicle.

 

Who shall I contact if I need anything during my stay?

You can always approach the staff living at the property who can assist you 24/7.
