SIAN KA'AN TRANSLATED FROM ANCIENT MAYAN MEANS "WHERE THE SKY IS BORN".
The exceptional natural beauty of Sian Ka'an, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, faces the greatest challenge of conservation – finding a way to integrate human activities without compromising all other forms of life contained within its boundaries. This biosphere hosts an impressive biodiversity in its array of ecosystems such as mixed tropical forests, swamps, mangroves, lagoons and bays, just to mention some of it. With over 86,306 acres, the biosphere is one of the largest protected areas in Mexico providing habitat to fascinating mammals, migratory birds, marine turtles and hundreds of species of fish.
Sustainability is one of our core values. We use technologies that employ natural resources like sun, wind and water to produce and manage energy with low environmental impact. Lowering our environmental footprint has become one of our perpetual goals. Our commitment to minimize waste has become more and more paramount to our business in recent years. Our waste separation and recycling programs are a result of the continual training and reinforcement that we provide for our staff. These values can then be passed along to their families and villages to help raise awareness about how to minimize waste locally.
LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND CHARITY
Nalum, meaning “Mother Earth” in the Mayan language, is a synonym for respect and the powerful connection between the environment and the ancient communities. Supporting the local communities in need has developed into a meaningful part of our villa projects.
Our promise is to help our neighboring communities by donating and fundraising social, cultural and environmental programs. Should you be interested in supporting charity initiatives and would like to receive more information, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
